Morrison Associates believes we have a responsibility to bring interesting and practical information to people related to their work life. This information must have a sound scientific basis and integrate with the other areas of a worker's life, such as family, and self. Our events reflect this belief.

“Executive Presence” — What is it?

Most executives and consultants know what executive presence is — at least in their view — but is there such a thing as executive presence, and as a leader, is it important to have?

While everyone has an opinion and “knows it when they see it”, we believe it is worth examining in more depth. At Morrison Associates, we work with and see many successful leaders; however those who struggle are (among other things) often lacking this characteristic. This symposium will begin with asking and answering some of the following questions:

  • What makes up executive presence?
  • How does it relate to emotions or affects?
  • What are the components?
  • What is its relationship to judgment?
  • Can it be developed in someone who doesn’t already have it?
  • How would you develop it?

David Morrison has addressed those questions and has some ideas. Morrison Associates have also made some inquiries to people who have given us ideas and knowledge of this. David does not claim his answers are correct or all-inclusive, but wishes to present this topic and discuss it with you in the hope that it forwards individual leadership development in upcoming leaders.

David Morrison's expert knowledge and experience working with people individually and in work groups is based on a number of factors from medicine and psychiatry, including human motivation and behavior.
