John Novinson

John has prior governmental experience as an administrator with the Illinois Department of Registration and Education and the Cook County, Illinois Civil Service Commission. He has a variety of experience with environmental issues including Chairing the Clean Air Counts (CAC) Campaigns, which is a voluntary effort to improve air quality in the Chicago region. CAC is a joint project of the Metropolitan Mayors” Caucus, several private entities including the Grand Victoria, R.R. Donnelly and Macarthur foundations as well as the Illinois and U.S. EPAs. John chaired the International County/City Managers’ Association Public Works subcommittee of that association’s Policy Committee. He was the chair of the ICMA’s Environmental Mandates Task Force and worked on the creation of federal mandate legislation.

John Novinson is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago with a BA and MA in Political Science. He is the retired City Manager of the Village of Northbrook, an Illinois home rule municipality of 35,000 residents in the north suburban area of metropolitan Chicago. John Novinson has 38 years experience in local, state, regional and national government.

 

William P. (Bill) Kovacs

William P. Kovacs has been practicing law since 1974 concentrating on private placements and public and private investment funds. He has served as General Counsel to several mutual fund complexes and investment advisers with a particular focus on insurance-affiliated financial services firms. After serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army and graduating from Wabash College he obtained his JD degree from the University of Iowa.

He began his legal career with Beving, Swanson & Forrest of Des Moines, Iowa followed by a variety of legal positions with The Principal Financial Group, Kemper Financial Services, Conseco and The Investors Guaranty Global Alliance, a Bermuda based group of affiliated financial services companies. His professional activities have focused on trade association committees and bar groups. He and his wife Agnes have been married for 39 years and are the proud parents of two daughters, Wendy and Mary Helen. He is an avid amateur astronomer and civil war historian.

 

 

Sridhar Ramamoorti, Ph.D., CPA, CIA, CFE, Partner, Grant Thornton LLP

Sri Ramamoorti is a partner at Grant Thornton LLP where he oversees Corporate Governance. His background is blended between academia and practice, and covers more than twenty years of auditing, consulting and academic experience. Sri provides technical consultation on Sarbanes Oxley, professional standards, financial reporting and auditing matters, and anti-fraud programs and controls. His publications and presentations serve various levels of the organization from senior leaders to mentoring young professionals. A recent paper (2007) “Fraud: The Human Factor” was published in Financial Executives International’s (FEI) flagship magazine.

Dr. Ramamoorti’s educational background began in Bombay, India where he was awarded a Diploma in Mathematics & Statistics (1982), followed by a Bachelor of Commerce from Bombay University (1984). Upon coming to the United States, Sri completed a Masters in Accounting (1992) and a Doctor of Philosophy (1995) at The Ohio State University.
