Morrison Associates believes we have a responsibility to bring interesting and practical information to people related to their work life. This information must have a sound scientific basis and integrate with the other areas of a worker's life, such as family, and self. Our events reflect this belief.

Managing Negative Emotions, Part II

In our winter lectures of 2009, the topic of managing affects and emotions evolved into a two part series. As such, it became Managing Affects and Emotions, Part I. This 2010 lecture (Part II) will review the principles that were introduced in Part I and present ideas, as well as explore in more depth the management of affects — specifically the negative affects of fear, anger, distress, and shame. This is a rich topic for anyone with responsibility over a team, or who wants to understand emotions better. If time permits, we will practice some relaxation techniques.
David E. Morrison, M.D.

Rescheduled to November 2010
Thriving in Tough Times

Thriving in Tough Times is based on a 40-year, in-depth study of the personality and behavioral differences between those who thrive after going through difficult experiences and those who struggle. Dr. Morrison will present some significant aggregate differences measured on psychological tests. This lecture will also cover what those who thrived believed made the difference for them between thriving and merely surviving. The lecture and study outcomes are intended to be helpful in the current environment of uncertainty and high unemployment.
David E. Morrison, M.D.
